Local officials, public works & roads departments, public safety agencies, and levee/drainage district officials continue their round-the-clock flood fight efforts.
With Missouri cresting anticipated to reach the Council Bluffs/Omaha area in morning hours of 6/29/2024, everyone is encouraged to remain away from floodwaters and NEVER drive through water covered roads.
The police and fire departments in Council Bluffs assisted multiple people from a homeless encampment that was inundated with floodwaters on June 26th and directed them to a safe area behind the levee. Sheriff's department personnel and levee managers in NW Pottawattamie worked to notify a resident in risk of being inundated with floodwaters after a potential small levee breach in the area; officials confirmed the resident safety self-evacuated from the area.
Council Bluffs Public Works and County Roads continue to monitor flood inundation and adjust road closures and implement mitigation actions to protect at-risk infrastructure.
Local, state, and federal partners continue their coordinated response efforts to local governments and the residents that are and will face impacts from this significant flooding event.
If you receive flood damages in the coming days, you are asked to report your damages at the links provided on this website. Please include flood damage and level pictures as part of your submission.
