Due to persisting drought conditions throughout the county, local and state fire officials have determined that conditions throughout the county are such that open burning presents an increased danger to life and property.
Until environmental conditions improve, rapid fire spread is a significant threat that is further increased by drying crops remaining in fields. Controlled burning can quickly become uncontrolled.
During an open burning ban citizens are reminded to not throw out cigarettes from moving vehicles and to discontinue burning yard waste, piled tree debris, grass/agricultural ground and set-asides or other items during the ban.
